“I think a lot about what makes a strong female character. You know, movies and TV shows, these things have influence, my own website. So I think the question of “What makes a strong female character?”, often goes misinterpreted. And instead we get these two-dimensional superwomen, who maybe have one quality that’s played up a lot. Like, you know, a Catwoman type, or she plays her sexuality up a lot and it’s seen as power. But they’re not strong characters who happen to be female, they’re completely flat and they’re basically cardboard characters. The problem with this is that then people expect women to be that easy to understand, and women are mad at themselves for not being that simple. When in actuality, women are complicated. Women are multifaceted. Not because women are crazy, but because people are crazy. And women happen to be people!”
I am about to embark on a vacation that will take me along the coast of Spain. Although this vacation has me very excited it has also brought about some realizations. My appreciation of the finer things in life such as beer and foodstuffs has finally began to effect my lovely physique (damn you metabolism!!!) I don’t want to bore my tumblr friends but over the next 20 days I will be kicking my own ass with the Jillian Michaels “30 Day Shred” routine…. I know… I only have twenty days before my vacation… but I figure its a start at least. Ill be doing a lot of walking and climbing in Spain… and maybe some dancing! Anyway, here is some information from my first two days… Keep in mind that I have not actively worked out in over a year. Also, please feel free to join me on my fitness quest.
Day 1 I made it 3/4 of the way through the routine and stopped. I started the routine at 10:30pm and was exhausted from my day at work but did my best. The next morning at work I felt some soreness but I knew I didn’t press myself hard enough.
I did the whole routine! Got home from work and changed into my workout gear. Made myself some protein and drank some water. After digesting I started the workout. The 30 day shred consists of 4 intervals that have 3 minutes strength, 2 minutes cardio, 1 minute abs and the entire program is 20 minutes. There are three levels. You are suppose to move up a level every 10 days. At this rate I feel like I might be stuck at level 1 for the entire 20 days but I am hoping when I get back from vacation I will be able to progress faster.
I will not be posting my measurements but I have taken a before picture. If the results are something to write home about I will post them at the end. I don’t expect to see any results until I am able to complete the 30 day program from start to finish. Who wants to join my quest?
