I am declaring a state of emergency for all residents of the United States of America. CISPA is attempting to sneak into our private internet lives. Today the House of Representatives pushed the bill through in a huge rush and it is now on its way to the senate. We can not let a bill like this spit on the ideas of the American system of Rights. It’s enough that we let corporations forcefeed us bullshit and lies on a daily basis but we must draw the line here. CISPA is similar to previous bills that have been shot down by the American public such as SOPA. President Obama has threatened to veto this bill but I don’t even want to see it make it to that stage. We need to act now. • Keep our children from receiving a quality, competitive education!
• Don’t help our communities who have been ravaged by natural disasters! And while you’re at it, please deny that human activities have anything to do with these disasters!
• Make our political voice meaningless by giving corporations the right to make unlimited anonymous donations!
• Refuse to compromise even though America’s great tradition has always been compromise!
• Erect barriers to voting for American citizens!
• And don’t forget to keep women in their places - without reproductive freedom, equal pay, or power in the political process!

All of these things (and more!) are the result of doing things in a regressive Republican way for the last 30 years.

The execution of Troy Davis really irked me. If you haven’t kept up with it, give it a couple minutes of your time. The United States has executed yet another man who may very well have been innocent, and I can’t help but feel embarrassment & sorrow. Too many people have been found innocent after being put to death for me to be ok with capitol punishment. It’s tragic to say the least. 

I wanted to see what other countries still participate in this shameful act, only to find we are in the company of some unsavory places. In case you geography skills are as poor as mine, the countries marked in red include: China, Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, Cuba, Libya, Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, & Syria, among others. 

Only one country in all of Europe practices it and that is Belarus.  -sirmitchell
