lifeandcode:

Another all-in-the-browser coding 101 site, a bit like Codecademy, except for Ruby instead of Javascript. (There’s also RubyMonk).   See many, many more learn-to-code sites at Life And Code’s Learn To Program Resource Guide.

Rails for Zombies

lifeandcode:

piriyuu:

Never done any programming before? Intimidated? Try Rails for Zombies :) They make learning Ruby a game. Now if I learned C like this, perhaps it wouldn’t have given me so many headaches…

Kudos to Natsura for telling me about it :D

Blogged this one before, but zombies are always worth a second bump.  MORE BRAIIIIIINS!

It is the 256th day of the year, the moment we’ve all been waiting for….Programmer’s Day. Apparently the holiday is only officially recognized in Russia but many technology oriented companies do recognize their programmers on this special day. To celebrate this monumental occasion programmers from around the world are wearing white today, I know I have my white on.
Why the 256th day?
“A byte can have 256 possible values, bytes are very important to programmers. Not because they are required for programs to work, but because the payroll system and Krispy Kreme doughnut cash registers require them.”
